Better Homes Program

The Better Homes Program offers minor home improvement services to senior citizen and/or disabled homeowners. This grant based program utilizes both professional and volunteer labor to perform home improvement services. Improvement services may include yard clean up, exterior and interior painting and minor construction repairs. The Better Homes Program typically operates from June through early September.

CADA provides this program as a community service. CADA understands senior/disabled residents often have a difficult time maintaining their homes on a fixed income. The deferral of needed home improvements can result in unsafe and hazardous living conditions.

Better Homes services are offered at no-cost to seniors/disabled homeowners. Eligibility criteria for the Better Homes Program include the following:

  • The home must be located in the Central Area neighborhood.
  • The home must be owned by a senior citizen or disabled person.
  • The senior or disabled owner must reside in the home.
  • The senior or disabled owner must have a low to moderate income household.

For more information on The Better Homes Program, please contact Erica Porter, (206) 328-6987. Please note that CADA is limited to how many and what types of projects it can perform per year.
